PATRIOTIC MATTERS.
IPROPOSED UTILISATION OF SURPLUS WOOL PRICE,. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Pahiatua, Last Night. The Pahiatua County Council unanimously endorsed the proposal that any surplus from last year's wool price should go to the dependents of men of the naval and mercantile marine. Few realised what the navy had done, and it was considered that was the least appreciation that could be shown to the men who had kept up the prosperity of the country. The War Relief Association, in soliciting more funds for wounded soldiers, resolved that the matter be brought to the notice of absentee landlords, especially the owners of the Balfour Estate, a big property near the town owned by the Rt. Hon. A. J. Balfour.
