95,000 SENT AWAY. Auckland, Last Night. In a speech at Helensville to-night Sir James Allen said New Zealand to date had sent away 95,000 soldiers, and over 22,000 had returned.. He was hope.ful we shortly would be able to reduce the reinforcement quota to what it was a few months ago. Sir James Allen announced that he had just received a letter from General Godley, giving particulars of honors gained by New Zealanders as follows: Victoria Cross, 0; D.S.O. 199, bars 5; D.C.M. 211, bars 2; Military Cross 307, bars 4; Military Medal 1195, bars 29; Meritorious Service 35; mentioned in despatches, 925: recommended to the Secretary of State for War, 117; awards to women, Royal Red Cross first class 7, second class 30. Honors awarded to New Zealanders by the Imperial authorities totalled 3045, and in addition 142 decpratioiis had been awarded for service with the Allies as follows: —French, 40; Russian, 7; Belgian, 521; Servian, 29; Montenegrin, 3.
