THE WOOL PURCHASE.
ATTITUDE OF POVERTY BAX GROWERS, By Telegraph,—Prcßß Asssciation. / Gisborne, Last Night. " The following telegram has been despatched 'by Mr. C. H. Bridge, president of the local Farmers' Union, to Mr. Ly&nar, at Wellington:—"All formers interviewed feel that the present conditions are quite satisfactory ag to the Government commandeering clips after the war, assuring them o£ a sound financial position when the market and shipping may be uncertain."
Mr. Lysnftr replied:—"Extremely surprised at your wire. My main complaint is, no time is given to refer the matter to the woolgrcmers. The period after the war is not one year, but really means two clips, and I am sure the woolgrowers of Poverty Bay, if they understood the whole position, would not approve of this."
The Wool Committee, representing the sheep owners of this district, held a .meeting, Mr. W. G- Sherratt presiding, '■and it was decided to call a frill meeting, ' of sheep owners for the*wool purchase scheme-
