ir.;... HAWJiRA AJiUMiALS. . The First Wellington .Military Service Board sat in 'Hawera on Saturday morning.
The Tuna Dairy Factory Co., Ltd., appealed for Thomas McMiiian Wsitkins, cheesemaker, Tuna. (He had had seven years' experience in chec-semaking, while he was also a certiiicated engineer. At present he was acting as manager, cheesemaker, and engineer to the company. There was only one assistant at the factory at present, while in the flush of the season the stall' consisted of four. I wo of the former employees had gone to the front, and yie company, had not appealed for these men. Decision was reserved sine die.
The T. L. J oil Dairy Ltd., appealed for (Leslie ' Stuart Mackie, cheesemaker, Otakeho. Decision was reserved sine die.
Mr. O'Shea appeared for Leslie Vincent Jackson, sharemilker, Hawera, who applied for time to enable him to eomj plete some fencing for Mr. Corrigan. The appeal was dismissed, with leave until the July draft. Samuel Harold Jenkins, farmer, Eltham, a married man with one child, asked for an extension of time, chiefly on the ground of heavy financial responsibilities. The further hearing was adjourned until Octdber.
Bernard Vincent Slieerin, road contractor, Manaia, represented by ,Mr; O Dea, applied for time to enable him to complete a contract which his partner Aield for the Waimate County Council, The appeal was adjourned until Thursday so as the Board could obtain the evidence of the chairman of the Waimate West County Council.
Samuel Joseph Hodge, engineer, Pa tea, appealed on the ground of public intertst.
The case was adjourned until September, when it will" be further considered.
James Marshall Clague, farmer, Ma. naia, represented by Mr. Bennett, appealed on the ground of public interest and undue hardship. Appellant deposed that he was married, with one child. There were five sons, and lie was the last remaining boy not on active service. One of the (boys had been killed. He was now managing three places, and last season milked about 96 cows. Decision was reserved sine die-
The Patea Freezing Works Company appealed for Robert Louis Prouse, slaughterman.
James White, cheesemaker, Whakamara, for whom Mr. O'Dea appeared, appealed on the ground of public interestThe appeal was adjourned until 'Mod* day to enable the chairman of the company to be subpoenaed to give evidence. Arthur Edward McEwen, carriagebuilder, Hawera, applied for an extension of time on account of the state of his wifes health. The further hearing was adjourned until the August sitting The appeal of Norman Campbell Innos, commission agent, Manaia, which was withdrawn, was formally dismissed. The appeal of Henry James Robertson, sharemilker, was dismissed, there being no appearance of the reservist.
