WOOL PRICES.
NEXT SEASON'S PURCHASE. The price at which next season's wool Is being purchased by tiie Imperial Government is based upon the values ruling in New Zealand hi 1913-14, plus 55 per cent. The average prices for 1914 were as under:—
Per Pound Super merino combings 12 to W/s Medium to good merino 9% to 11% Inferior merino BVa to 9y. Super halfbred 12 to 14 Medium to good halfbred 9% to 12 inferior halfbred 9 to 10 Super crossbred 10 & to 12 Medium to good crossbred 9 to 11 Inferior crossbred 7% to i) Lincoln and Leicester 8% to lIP/* Lambs, good n to 13 " Lambs, medium 9 to 10% Fifty-five per cent, additional to these values la to be paid. The wool is valued by Government valuers, who were well-known overseas buyers before the requisition. The brokers who formerly handled the wool for their respective clients are now Government brokers, and they also value the wool. Any variation of opinion between valuers and brokers ias to the value and classification of the wool jis referred to the Government's Supervising I Valuer. The wool selected and valued is paid fur within fourteen days after valuation.
