A Wireless German report states: On the evening of the 27th a part of our Flanders torpedo foroes engaged the British destroyers off Ostend. After half an hour's fight the enemy withdrew, escaping out of sight by the developing fog. Hits were observed on two enemy destroyers. Ours returned to their bases undamaged.—Aus. end N.Z. Cable Association and Renter. VICTIMS OF TORPEDOED SHIPS. PICKED UP AT SEAReceived June 30, 5J5 p.m. Halifax, June 28. A boatload of shipwrecked sailors from the steamer Divinsn, which was torpedoed off the American coast as cabled on June 26, have landed at a CanadianAtlantic port. They were picked up at sea, after drifting in a small boat for eight days and suffering great privations through starvation and thirst.—Press Assoc. BRITISH STEAMER SUNK. Received June 30,11.5 p.m. New York, June 29. Private advices received in New York state that the British steamer Atlantian was torpedoed and sunk in European waters.
