A pleasant little ceremonv took nlaoe at the booking office of the New By. mouth railway station on Wednesday tast when the station-master (Mr. Peach), on behalf of the staff, presented a safety razor and- outfit and knife to A-L Tlw,and > transport clerk. Messrs OShea, Davis, and Moffitt also spoke and the recipient suitably replied. Those present sang "For He's a Jolly Good iellow, and also gave cheers for Mr. Trowland, who left the following morning on holiday leave. He tltoreafter goes mto camp. Mr. J. D. Bay, who recently returned irom the front, succeeds Mr ■irowland at New Plymouth.
