About 2 pjn. on Thursday afternoon there was a cyclonic visitation, fortunately over a restricted area, in the Bell Block district. Mr- C. Wyatt lad just finished carting hay to his cattle, when tiie cyclone struck liis property and whisked all the hay out of the paddock, also removing the tops from some pins trees. From there it travelled on to Mr. Gus. Sole's property demolishing a shed, some of the iron of which was distributed into an adjoining paddock. 'Mr. Wyatt states that the track affected by the cyclone appeared to ibe attrout three chains wide. No. damage is reported from any other part of the district. The annual meeting of tho Church of England congregation at Tikorangi was held on Wednesday evening last. Arch- • deacon Evana presided, and there was a large attendance. After tho accounts! and reports had been received, and the ' officers for the year appointed, the archdeacon gave a short account of his work on the hospital ship. The sum ofl £l7 was subscribed towards the Taranaki Hut, which, with the £25 already donated by the Patriotic Committee, makes a very generous contribution, lie archdeacon thanked the settlers for their ' liberality. Refreshments were provided by the ladies, and the meeting fltoaedi l , with tho National Anthem.
Nature was lavish in her exhibits on Saturday morning last. A most gor-. geous sunrise was observed that morning. Had it been possible to Jb&ve represented this on canvas, tha splendid coloring would hq.vo been discredited. Mount Egmont, which 'was quite clear and snow-clad well down towards its base, looked magnificent, silhouetted against a [background of blue-black sky.
All the Jugoslavs who struck recently on the Trunk railway construction work, because they objected to the Government system of payment for piecework, have resumed operations. The Commissioner (Mr. J. Oullen) interviewed the men on Thursday, and it is thought that the newly-gazetted regulations will cope effectively with similar, future difficulties.
