SUPS ON MAIN TRUNK LINE. By Telegraph. —Press Association. ! Taihape, June '2B. The incessant rain for several weeks is causing slips in various localities on the Main Trunk line. This morning's express was held up at Mataroa, just north of Taihape, and another slip is reported south of Taihape, into which a train ran and 'became derailed. Clearing gangs are being sent from Taihape, The largest slip is between Taihape and Mataroa. The 1' a.m. goods train from Ohakune, drawn "by two engines, ran into the slip. Both engines and some trucks were derailed, and some trucks considerably smashed. The Auckland-Wellington express waß met by the relief train. The passengers and mails were transferred and brought to Taihape, where a stop was made for breakfast. They were then sent on to the slip between Hunterville and Rata, where the transference was repeatedEarth and rock are on the line north of Taihape in considerable volume. It is expected that the clearance will not bo completed under two days. The drivers and stokers were not injured. Marton, June 28. A big land slide occurred on the Main Trunk line between Silverhope and Hun; terville, about 14 miles from Marton Junction, during last night. The early goods train from Taihape ran into the slip in the darkness, albout a dozen waggons being derailed. The Auckland express is transferring its passengers to a | relief train on the Marton side, and will be about six hours late.
