PERSONAL.

Major W. H. Fletcher, 11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles), has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal, for over 20 years' service. Mr. S, Robb, of New, Plymouth, has succeeded Mr. W. J. Mason as general secretary of 'the Y.M.C.A. at Christchurch. The latter is to take up duties as a field secretary. A Wellington message reports the death of Mr. Alex. H. Turnbull, a wellknown Wellington merchant, prominent in art, scientific and yachting circles. He waß 419 years old. Mr. George Burkett, a motor-cyclist, who wag injured in a collision with a car on the New Plymouth-Lepperton Road, on Sunday, June 16, is now reported to be making very satisfactory progress towards recovery.

In the latest hospital report published the name of H. S. Taylor (iKahotu) is given among the severe cases, and Temp-orary-Corporal R. Kirfe (New Plymouth) among the not severe cases.

Captain Orr Walker, who has been absent from the first Military Appeal Board for some months owing to ill-health, has now recovered and -will join the Board in New Plymouth next Week. The Bev. J. Lawson Bobineon, B.A. (son of Mr. R. H. Bofoinson, Stratford), of Columba Church, Oamaru, who was expected to go into camp in September, has been offered) and haa accepted, the position of " Presbyterian chaplain at Featherston.
