O'Connor.—Withdrawn. IN COMMITTEE. Four mortgages amounting to £3550 at current rates were approved. The Commissioner of Crown Lands submitted the case of the soldier selector of section 2S, Tututawa settlement, and jit was resolved to sue for the balance of remFand interest owing. The least of section SS, Tututawa settlement, was forfeited. Five applications for remissions of rent under section 23 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1915, were dealt with according to circumstances. The lessee of section 30, block 2, Piopitea West, 22a. lr. 37p., applied for exemption from residence on account, of military service and was granted 12 months' exemption. Fred. Sutcliffc, lessee of lot 2, sections 803-8, town of New Plymouth, gave notice in terms of clause 8 of his lease that he is now erecting improvements as follows: House £636, levelling £4O, fencing £ 10.—Received and approved. Mr. B. A. Meredith, Crown lands ranger, forwarded a report on section 6, bloclf 8, Omona S.D., 1236 acres, for re-offering.—Resolved to re-open for soldier settlement (special tenThe lease of section 4, block 5, and section 10, block 9, Waro, was declared forfeited. Advances to soldier settlers amounting to £3136 were recommended for approval of the Minister of Lands. Six postponements of payment of rent were recommended for approval of the Minister or Lands. CORRESPONDENCE AND MISCELLANEOUS The county engineer, Waitomo County Council, submitted proposals for expenditure of thirds (£698 Bs)' due to March 31, 1918.—Approved. The county clerk, Stratford County Council, submitted proposals for expenditure of thirds (£26 0s lid) due to March 31, 1018—ApIt was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Ryan, seconded by Mr. Heslop, that the Under-Secre-tary's attention be again directed to the board s resolution of February 2T last regard ng the desirability of the Crown erecting legal boundary fences on Improved lands »e«ulred for soldier settlement, with the request that the board's representations in the matter be reconsidered by the Minister, as the boards,added experience in this connection has further convinced them of the wisdom of the course urged. Mrs. M. Steffert, section 3, block 4, Bcao, applied for 12 months' further exemption from residcnce.-Approved as a final concession The licensee of section 4, b10ck.12.. Wa'tera, applied for permission to forfeit his holding.— Forfeited without respect to overdue rent.
