BURGLARY AT ASBBORTONBy Telegraph.—Press Association. AsMmrton, June 21. A burglary last night at the residence o! Harry Stephenson, auctioneer, and at Ins oifice, resulted in £6 being stolen from the former and £3O 17s 2d from the office safe. The burglar evidently waited till Mr. Stephenson retired tl 'bed, tooik the keys off the mentel shelf and a purse containing the money- Then he visited the office, two miles distant, and situated in tha centre of Ashburton, opened the safe and cashbox, and left the keys on tie office table. On Tuesday evening the premises of Dr. Hunter wero entered. The burglar bored ; out the lock of the drawer where the cash was usually kept, but drew a |blanlc. ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT. Auckland, June 21. Louis Alovsius Frost, employed as secretary to J. F. Julian, building contractor, was charged* at the Police Court for having received £llO on behalf of the firm, and failing to account for the same: It was stated that the alleged defalcations total £BOO. Accused wes remanded, bail 'being allowed in two sureties of £l5O each.
