At last night's meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council the inspector (Mr. R. Miss Douglas played the accompaniments. Supper was provided at -the conclusion of the programme. The new war comedy, "Releasing a Man," is to be staged for the first time in New Plymouth at the entertainment in the Good Templar Hall on Wednesday, June 2G, at 8 p.m. All proceeds from, the entertainment in aid of St. Mary's Day at the Mart on Saturday, June 28. At the annual meeting of the Farmers' Co-operative Organisation Society at Hawera on Saturday, shareholders evidently were well satisfied with the results of the year's working, as they voted increased salary to the auditors, increased the chairman's honorarium and increased the pay of the directors. This last was too much for a native shareholder, who caused considerable amusement by humorously interjecting "By korry! What about-my farms? Good-bye, I tink."
