MOTORING ACCIDENTS.
A serious mix-up by a motor-oar and } ,n °tor-cyclist at the junction of the Lcp-pei"ton-iN T ow Plymouth roads yesterday evening resulted in extensive injuries to the cyclist, Mr. G- Burkett, a member of the staff of Spedding and Stamton, who was admittted to the New Plymouth Iloapital a*bout 6 30, and on examination, his condition wa3 found to be very grave, as he was suffering from a severe scalp wound, grave injury to one leg, a fractured thigh bone and kneecap, as well as other injuries. The sufferer, who is 19 years of agt and a particularly fine young man, was bearing up as well as possible, but later a relapse set in, and his condition became very grave, i " ' AN ACCIDENT AX WBSTOWiN. On Saturday evening, shortly before 7 o'clock, whilst Mr. E. Sole, of Westown, was walking along Tukapa Street, New Plymouth, he was knocked down by a motorcycle and side-car, sustaining a slight fracture of the skull, besides severe (bruises and contusions to the face and body. ■ Dr. Wade was immediately summoned, and ordered his removal to the hospital, where he is making favorable progress. The rider of the motorcycle and occupant of the side-chair—-two brothers named Langley, residing at Westown—were thrown on to the road, but escaped with slight injuries, one sustaining a cut lip from the glass of the wind-screen. The motor-cycle was considerably damaged. The accident happened at a part of the road, where there is no footpath, and, therefore, is dangerous to pedestrians.
