OBITUARY.
SHI CHARLES JOHNSTON. By Telegraph.—-Press Association, Wellington, June IS. The Hon. Sir Charles Johnsta Speaiker of the Legislate Council, this afternoon, Tift late Hon.- Sir COiarles Johnatoa was born at Wellington in 1&4>5, and * son of the Hon. John Johnston. Ha , was a member of the House of Reprei sentatives from ISB3 till 1886, and wad called to the Legislative Council in of which lje was a life member. Ho iraa Mayor of Wellington in 1899. He acted for Belgium and the Netherlands. He( was also a director of a number of put* lie companies. He served in the Baity haka Expedition.
