BETTING OFFENCES. By Telegraph.—Bress Association. Hamilton, June 13. In the Magistrate's Court, Frederick Jones and Robert Whitten were charged with using a shop as a common house, and were fined £25 eacli. Wliitten was further charged with betting with an infant, and fined £ls. Notice of appeal was given.

A COAL HOISTING MISHAP. Wellington, Last Night. During the discharge of coal from the Poherua, with the grab lifting about a ton, tho hook on the grab, to which tho hoisting chain was attached, snapped, and the grab, full of coal, fell back into the ship. Fortunately no men were working in the hold at the time.
REORGANISING AGRICULTURAL DEPARTMENT. Wellington, Last Night, Mr. F. S. Pope, Secretajy of Agricufc tare, speaking at the beekeeper's' cow ference, said that would probably be the last occasion he would have an opportunity of addressing the association aa head of the Department, owing to ceia tain contemplated changes.
