Sandy Paul will be opposed by poor opposition in the chief steeplechases at the meeting, and is expected to givea good account of himself. Expedition is well treated in the minor class, and on Otaki form reads well in. Pursefiller has a great impost in the Park Hurdles to-day, but she was never better 111 her life than at present, and the weight may not trouble her. A lot of good money was lost on War Guard the other day, and many punters will look to get their money back in the flutters at Gisborne this week. The Flying Handicap will probably see Gazique sent out a firm favorite, but Movement may prove troublesome with 321b in her favor Torchlight, on Otaki form, should command respect in the hack flat events, aid reads well with only 71b above the minimum in the Hack Flat Handicap to-day The Winter Oats field may be reduced by scratchings, but Kauri King and Hy thread have only to go to the post to ensure aa Interesting race. Last year Sandy Paul won the Gisborne Steeples with 10.3 up, in hollow fashion, but he fell on the second day. Sa.brenui scored in the Tramway Hack Steeples with 10st., and Kauri King won a double at the meeting. The steeplechase course at Gisborne is rather stiff, and at last year's winter meeting Sandy Paul, Ranza Mist, Spalperion, The Cliicf, Bodenham. Glouria, Zain, and Sabrenui failed to negotiate the obstacles.
