WINTER SHOW.

aN attractive display. OPENS TO-DAY. Th'e ninth annual Winter Show, held under the auspices of the aranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Soc-oty, which opens to-da}', promises to be one of the most successful in the history of the society. The committee submitted an attractive schedule, which hag resulted in inducing a larger number of competitors than have entered at any previous Winter Show held locally The classes include farmers' district displays, dairy produce, farm produce, home industries, Technical School work, garden produce, machinery and working exhibits, Native competitors, school competitions, poultry and children's pets, and general trade exhibits. The entries in most of the classes are large, and competition will be keen. A number of very valuable trophies are offered for competition in various classes. The society lias effected many improvements in tiie building since the last .shr.-.v, notably the asphalting of the floor and the whitening of the walls of thej annexe to the building The cheese exhibits have been placed in this annexe, as well as a number of school displays The committee has left nothing to chance, and the whole arrangements apto be complete in every detail. A strong .'.ommittee of ladies has undertaken the whole of the catering arrangements. and morning and afternoon tea will be served through the four days on which the show is to be open. , The Citizen*' T!and will be in attendance ok each night, and will plav programmes of music on each occasion. Tn connection with the show a series of lectures has been arranged on subjects of vital interest to th farming commuity These will be given in the ilood Templar Hall on Friday, commencing at 11 a.m. The show will he officially opened at i pm to-day by Mr IT. .7. Okey, M.P.. nnd will be open up til! 10 o'clock each night unt'l Saturday.
