DISTRICT NEWS.
INGLEWOOD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a record attendance at the Red Cross euchre party and dance on Thursday evening. At euchre Mrs. Gow won the first prize and Miss Mary Allen second. Mr. Horner won the gentlemen's first prize and Mr. King the second, after cutting with Mr. Henry. The hall was in splendid order for dancing, the music for which was supplied by Mr. Stockman's orchestra, which is sufficient guarantee of quality, and Mr. Coldwcll made an efficient M.C. The> Patriotic Society benefits to the extent of about £l4, which must be considered highly satisfactory. Messrs Branch, Armstrong, and Peterson left for camp this week, all taking the "Glaxo treatment." TARJKI (From Our Own Correspondent.) A farewell social and dance was given to Pte. Albert Prujean on the 4th inst., when, in spite of the short notice, there was a good attendance. Mr A. E Lawrence, chairman of the Patriotic. Committee, in presenting the gueat of the evening with a leather wallet and a kit of useful comforts from the ladies Committee, remarked that many Tariki boys had answered the call to aims and he felt certain 'Pte. Prujean would maintain the high reputation New Zealanders had gained on the battle fields and wished him on behalf of all God-speed and a safe return (applause). Pte. Prujean in a neat speech thanked the Tariki people for their presents and the good "send-off" they had. given him. Songs were contributed by Mts C. Young, Miss W- Kelaby and Mr J. Hancock. Mr Sid Reod provided excellent music for dancing extras being given by Misses J. Therkleson, E. Rudkin, Lawrence and Mr J- Stephenson. Mr -J. Hunwiek acted as M.C. and the ladies' committee were as usual indefatigable in locking after the supper arrangements.
