(From Our Own Correspondent ) Elthani, June 8. BOROUGH COUNTOIL. The Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor and Crs. Pfirrott, Stanners, Judd, Biallantine, White, Carman, Beesley, and 'JPaykr. After considering the matter in committee, it was resftved to cany out the following works:—West tanks and filters, £260; Conway Road tanks and filt ; ters, £3370; Castle Street tank and filters, £000; new Castle Street sewer, Din, £810; relaying Bin pipes along certain streets, £2100; tracing and repairing faulty house connections. £IOOO • two Gin sewers in Bridge Street, £165; alterations to sewer at restaurant, £125; and, with other alterations, making a total of £IO,OOO. A loin will be raised for the purpose. C. A. Wilkinson's application to make '•ertain improvements and additions to a building in Bridge Street east, was granted, and the use of the Athenaeum. Hal), to the Ladies' Patriotic Committee was granted on certain conditions. A DRUIDS' WELCOME. A public reception and welcome to Privatl) A. Kenny was tendered him last evening by the local Druids' Order. There was a very good attendance of members and fritnda During the evening AD. Bro. 11. H. Blake and P.DP. Bro- E. Parrott made congratulatory speeches to their guest on having done his duty and returned safely once again. The early part of the evening was devoted to cards, Miss Brew winning the lady's prize, Mr. Mehrtens tike gentleman's, whilst Master Kenny landed tlie, booby. Excellent music for the dance was supplied by Mrs. Beesley, whilst the supper by the ladies was Al.
