FOOTBALL.
o STRATFORD V. ROVERS. This match was played at Stratford yesterday, and ended in a win for Stratford by 11 points to nil. Mr. .1. H. Thompson was referee. Throughout the game the reds had the best of the play. The hack combination was very good, and Willi a few games to get into condition they should prove capable .of holding any opposition. Tlic Stratford hacks undoubtedly won the game, but at times the forwards also gave glimiises of true Rugby work. Except on three occasions, the Rovers never looked like scoring, though they recorded one free down against the reds. ■ There was a lack of understanding with the backs that militated with the team's success. The forwards did better, and "their scrum work was good, and loose play an improvement on Stratford's. Stratford, however, beat the blues badlv on the line-out play. Stratford's first try was gained soon after play opened, 0. Kirell scoring from a loose rush, Collins failing at goaling. The second try was the finale to a fine forward rush, McCullough touching down and Collins goaling with an excellent kick. TECHNICAL COLLEGE V. BOYS' H. SCHOOL. Owing to the Technical College holidays, the match between the college team and the Xew Plymouth Boys' High School was not played yesterday. It is unlikely that the college team will play next Thursday either. The following will represent Banks, Law and Insurance v. Civil Service on racecourse at 2 30 p.m. on Saturday: F.
