ELTHAM.

((From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, June 7. An inquest was held yesterday, ibeforo Mr. G. H. Buckeridge, coroner, on the body of Edward M'Menamin, Mr. B. Dive being foreman of the jury. iMr. R. Ware gave evidence to picking up deceased in an unconscious condition on Saturday evening, and taking him to his residence. Dr. Cooper deposed that he had made a post-mortem examination, and found deceased had two ribs broken on the left of the spine. He believed the Mow must have been a severe one, but there were no external signs; tnerefore, it must have been delivered by something soft. There was also an abrasion on the knee. After hearing further evidence, a verdict was returned that death was caused by heart failure, accelerated by pneumonia, the result of a Wow. Before the District Official Assignee (Mr. J. S. S. Medley), a meeting of creditors in the estate of E. C. White, a farmer at Bunnythorpe, was held here yesterday. Tl>s is the aftermath of a picture venture that, instead of proving an El Dorado, landed both partners in the Bankruptcy Court. The other partner, Mr. Blake, had his meeting some weeks back, and Whito's case was on similar lines. The statement he put in was that, with Blake, he had started pictures going in Eltham and elsewhere, with a man named Lewis as manager. Things went anything but right financially, and they were now having to meet obligations occurring during Lewis' management. White was an elderly man, farming with another partner 21 acres, and, on his own showing, had little to offer. The meeting resolved to leave matters in Mr. Medley's hands, to call creditors together again if necessary, his landed property to remain in White's possession during his lifetime.
