On Friday, 31st May, we held our usual monthly sale in our Matan yards. We bad a full yaivling, -but most lines failed to reach reserves- Vendors held firm at recent prices, which were not forthcoming. Mixed weaners 17s (kl; weaner stc-era 27s 6d; 20-month empty heifers £4 r lambs 9s 3d to 17s; forward wethers 3(te. Neat sale 28th June.

Westfield. —Dairy cows and heifers continue in firm demand, (best making £l3 to £'lß 5.5, others £lO 5a to £l2 15s; aged caws and small backward heifers £6 2s 6d to £9 17s 6d; empty cows and lieifers £4 to £S 7s Cd; best weaner calves were, slightly stronger in demand; steers £3 5s to £0 2a 6d for •an extra choice quality pen; otters £1 l'Ja to £3 2a Sd; heifer calves £1 5s to £3 13a; three-year-old steers, at Tuakau made £l2 19s- Siheep: The advertised two-tooth, ewes in lamb averaged 275, lambs 4s 9d to 9s 9d. Horses at our Albert Yar4 : s on Friday averaged well over £3O. Best heavy draughts sold at from £33 to £3B 10s, others £24 to £3l 10s; medium draughts, £l6 to £25 10s; light harness sorts from £4 upwards, Practically all the saddlery, harness, etc., entered was sold at satisfactory prices. On Monday at Takapuna we had an average yarding of cattle. Best dairy cows and heifers made £lO to £l3 103, others £7 10s to £9 17s 6d; empty ctvwa and heifers £5 5s to £8 12s Cd; a.<*ed and poorer sorft £1 5s to £4 10a; calves £1 9s to £3 4s; gig and harness £l4 7a Gd.
At liowick on Monday we 'held a clearing sale of Mr. M. Finlay's dairy herd, Best cows made from £l2 to £l4 .10s, others £9 10s to £ll 15s; backward and unsound £5 2s Cd to £0 sa; calves 4« to £» 7s; horse £8 ss; fowls made 3s <sd, turkeys lis Od,'implements, tools, sundries, etc., at ruling rates.
At Westfield on Wednesday beef was penned in average numbers, the quality in some cases not being too good. Competition was keen, tho market showing a firmer tone. Choice ox sold to £2 10s per 10Wb, others £2 Cs to £2 !)a; cow and heifer beef, from £2 Is to £2 7s; steers sold at from £9 2s 6d to £il9 12s Gd; cows and heifers, £8 2s 6d to £ls; bulls £8 17s (3d to £ls 10s. Calves: Some of the calves were not up to the mark. We quote—Runners, from £4 17s Od to £C 16s: heavy vealers £3 l?s Cd to £4 15s; medium £2 lis to £3 10s; light 30a to £2 7s Od; small and fresh-drooped, 4s to 27s Gd. Sheep were penned in full numbers, and improved in prices. Best prime wethers sold at from £1 ISs to £2 2s Cd; others £1 l'2s 9d to £1 17s 6d; inferior wethers (including two-tooths), £1 0s Sd to £1 lis !)d; best ewes, £'l lis to £1 15s fid; others £] 5s 3d to £1 10s Od; inferior 10s to £1 4s Sd; aged store owes from 0s 3d to 15a 6d. Pigs were yarded in large numbers and sold well. FARMERS' 00 OP ORGANISATION. MARKET RETORT. At Qpunake yards on Monday we held our usuai fortnightly sale when there was a fair yarding of catle. We quote fat cows £lO 4s to £l2 Ids; fresh.condition cows £8 5a to £'9 18s; forward and store cows £5 10s to £9 12s Gd; boners £3 5s to £3; three-year-old bullocks £lO ilOs; dairy cows £lO 10s to £l4 10s; springing heifew £11; mixed weaners Ms Gd to £2 sa; weaner heifers £2 to £3 Os. Manaiia.—Weaner steers £l' 10s to £>2 103; mixed weaners £1 lis Gd to £2 U Gd. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a big yardiing of all classes of cattle and sheep. We report having held a most successful sale. Prices were as follows: 'Bulls £|o 15s to £!> 15s; fat and forward cows £8 10s to £lO 2s fid; store cows £fi 5g to £S; boners £3 to £G- weaners sold at late rates. Steers from £2 to £'Ji Is; heifers £1 to £2 10?; mixed weaners, up to £3 ss. Sheep ?old as follows: Wethers 14s to £1 8s Sd; ewes £1 lis 4d; ewes in lamb, 255; lambs 15s to 17s 3d.
On Wednesday at Ing'lewood we had an average yarding of store cattle and larger numbers of sheep and weaners. Store cattle sold at late rates. In-calf l;eifers £G 7a Gd to £8 10s; springing lieifers £6 to £l2 10s; dairy cows £8 IDs to £9 15s; 20-month steers £0 10b to £7 10s. Hhere were some really good lines of mixed weaners which realised £5 Ss. £-1 Is to £4 2s; others 30s to £3. Sheep were in fair demand. Lambs &3 3d to £1 us 9d; wethers 32s (id; ewes, in lamb, 30s 6d.
On Tuesday we report having held a most successful clearing sale on account of Mr. M. Nolly, Mangatoki. Dairy cmvs were in great demand, the whole herd averaging £l4 14s per head. Sundries and implements sold at late rates. On Friday at Auroa we had a fair yarding of cattle.
