AN ORDER DISOBEYED. GERMAN BRUTES DIE.
Received June 2, 5.5 p.m. Berne, May 31. Herr Mutholn, a former director of Krupp's, who is living in Switzerland, and ignored the German order calling him up for service, has been proclaimed a deserter. The Kreuz Zeitung reports the death of Wolfshagei, commandant at Ruhleben. Kesßel, commander of the Brandenburg district, who was responsible for the brutalities to English prisoners, died a few days ago.—Press Association. GERMAN PRISONERS IN FRANCE. Received June 2, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, May 31. The first prisoners from France are expected this week. After a four weeks' leave they will be ! sent to their regiments and then employed in garrison service or war industries, but cannot be employed at the front.—Press Association. AX ECONOMIC CONFERENCE. Received June 2, 11-50 p.m. Amsterdam, June 1. The Emperor Karl is to open a Ger-mano-Austro-Hungarian economic conference at Eaditn, near Vienna, at which a strong economic policy between the countries will be outlined. —Press Assoc. MARTIAL LAW. Received June 2, 11.50 p.m. Zuridh, June 1. Martial law has been proclaimed at Gratis in all war industries and factories, making mutiny, sabotage, or leaving work punisha/ble either by hanging or shooting.—Press Assoc.
