IMPORTANT RESOLUTIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, May 30. The Otago Educational Institute passed a motion urging the Minister to niter the regulation so as to prevent a school falling in grade and suffering a decrease in the staff owing to a sudden drop in the attendance as the result of severely inclement weather for a ■.fewdays in the year. The Institute decided that the work now required of an in* spector in making examination papers at Christmas should be considerably reduced, and that the number of inspectors he considerably increased. Mr. Service moved that the Sew Zealand Institute be asked to consider the advisability of supporting officially, and guaranteeing the election expenses of at least one candidate at each election of members of the House of Representatives. He said that in the.2o jppointments recently made to the Legislative Council every class of the community, with the exception of the teaching profession, was represented. The motion was carried unanimously .
