The purpose of this change is to prevent the officer being made conspicuous in the field by the sleeve-marking's, which experience lias pro-red can be detected at a considerable distance. The new rule may not apply to existing uniforms, since an immediate change would involve either the officers or the Defence Department in considerable expense.
