A number of Taranaki horses that have been fulfilling engagements at Wanganui returned to New Plymouth by the afternoon train yesterday. Included among them were Paddington Green, Henry Clay, Paraoa, Depredation, Simonides, Melita, Sandy Paul, Primato, and Kurnafpi. The rough weather has interfered considerably with the despatch of racehorses to Auckland to take part in the Great Northern meeting, and there will be many anxious this morning to know whether the Earawa crossed the bar. If the vessel gets away to-night she will be a full ship with both passengers and horses, some 23 of the latter having been booked to make the trip. These include the Great Northern Steeplechase candidates Gluepot and Collector, and the Hurdles candidate Gold Fran, also White Blaze, who will be a contestant in the Cornwall Handicap. Golden Grafton, Paddington Green, and Sandy 'Paul.
