A RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
rmrviNG-ROiD breaks. A CAR DERAILED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. E/ihiatim, Last Night. A startling experience befell the ess press from Wellington, which was running late, on Saturday. Shortly after leaving here, an accident occurred about a mile from Mangatai.soko. The driv-ing-rod of the engine broke and fell 3igtween tlie rails, cutting about thirty sleepers like a knife, ateo spreading the rails. The oar just behind the engine was derated, and the wheels of the engine were almost off th<> line. The express was travelling fast at a zigza* point in the line, not far from a but was promptly brought to a standstill The passengers included many soldiers. The occupants of the derailed car wore considerably shaken by the jolt. The service was disorganised on Saturday, the north and south trains beiif very late. "
