SUPREME COURT.

HOTEL LICENSES QUASHED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, May 27. An important decision was given by Mr. Justice Cooper in the case in which the police moved to have the license of Edward Swann, of the Hikurangi Hotel, and the license of William Edwin M'Cutcheon, of the Porota Hotel, quashed, mainly on the grounds that the licenses were removed outside of the limits provided by the Act. The question was whether the respective committees had jurisdiction to grant publicans' licenses to Swann and M'Cutcheon.

His Honor ruled they had not, and ordered the issue of a writ to quash both licenses.
