(From Our Own Correspondent) [All communicatioiis, letters, etc., left with Mr. H. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention.]
Stratford, May 27. A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. There was a good attendance of members of the A. and P. Association at the meeting held on Saturday, llr. J. W. Boon presiding. The principal business was that of a deputation, representing the General and Executive Committees, waiting on Mr. Boon with the request that he should allow himself to be nominated for a further term of office. The speakers making the request—Messrs R. Masters, T. Ranford, and Orr—all stated their appreciation of the enthusiasm displayed in association work by the president and the desire of who took a live interest in tne association, that Mr. Boon should continue in office- Mention was also made of tho valxiabk assistance rendered by Mrs. Boon and her committee of lady workers. The depu-' tation assured the president that they wouud do their dtmost to assist him in making the ensuing year as successful as the postMr. Boon, in replying, said it had not been his desire to sek re-election, feeling that this was a position that should go round and round. It was very pieasingto hear that his efforts on" behalf of the association had be?n appreciated, Seeing it was the wish of those present that he should continue on as president, he had pleasure in acceding to their request, and should they decide to hold the usual Summer Show, he trusted all would do their utmost to make things go as smoothly and successfully aa those of the past.
Should tho annual meeting sanction a Summer Show, there is no doubt that Mr. Boon will find at his command an energetic and enthusiastic committee. GENERAL. Through communication has been restored between Whangamomona and Stratford, and trains are now running as usual. The roads out beyond Kohuratahi, however are not in good order, as information has been received that cattle due to be railed into Strathave been unable to reach the loadingplace through slips on the roadGood progress is being made with the Cardiff Dairy Company's new cheese premises. The architect (Mr. J. Healey) is very pleased with the work so far accomplished. The Pembroke Road factory is also moving ahead, and should be in readiness for manufacturing oheeso when the new season opens.
Two well-known Stratford amateurs (Messrs Rowe and Andrews) had great receptions at a patriotic concert held at Lepperton. They monopolised a goodly portion of the programme, and, in response to an invitation, it is very probable that with several other Stratford performers, they will later en visit Lepperton again. They speak highly of the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson and family. Mr. Atkinson is the North Taranaki delegate at the War Association, and with Mrs. Atkinson, are ever ready to push on patriotic work.
