MESOPOTAMIA.
WIRELESS WORK. BY NEW ZEALAND TROOP.' Wellington, May 2». The following has been addressed to the Press Association from Bagdad, dated March 16: The New Zealand Wireless Troop is still going strong in Mesopotamia, as is evidenced by the decorations and promotions which the troop has gained. Sergeant Robinson (Awanui radio) has been awarded the Italian Bronze Medal, and Corporal Pearse (Wellington) the Meritorious Service Medal, whilst Captain Melville and Lieut. McKeown have received their promotion in the field. Captain Melville (late Auckland and Rotorua) left New Zealand with the troop as a lance-corporal, and Lieut. McKeown (late Wellington) left aa a sergeant. ■ The former was promoted to 2nd-Lieut, and O.C. of the troop, and later gained his captaincy, whilst Mc Keown was promoted to 2nd-Lieut. and later to Ist-Lieut. The troop is very proud of itself, and it is most gratifying to feel that it's work has merited these distinctions. One and all are in good spirits and are determined to keep their end up until a successful issue is reached. TURKISH DEFEAT. BRITISH ADVANCE ON THE TIGRIS. Received May 22, 8 p.m. London, May 28.
