Stratford, Hay 20. At the County Council meeting on Saturday, Cr. Uuskiu gave notice to move:—"That the previous resolution allow. ng marble tablets, inscribing the chairman's name, etc., on bridges erected in tiie comity,'' be rescinded.
Kates for tin; ensuing year were fixed as under:—North, East, and West Hidings, 01/.d in the £; ,South Hiding, and Mangaehu, 4d. This means an increase of y 4 d in all ridings excepting the South, which is fixed at the same rating as last year. There was a large attendance of friends and others at the railway station on Saturday evening to welcome homo -Sergeant Davis, Dance-Corporal Finnerty. Privates J. L Cramer. W. Pctrie. and T. W. Ireland- The Mayor was present, and in a short hut happy speecS welcomed them back to Stratford once more, conscious of having done their duty. Cheers were given, and the crowd dispersed.
I.nst week's Oazette, requiring certain reservists to parade shortly, includes the names of ft. Harris, fanner. Brooks road, Ptratford, and George Teeehan. farm hand, T/iwgarth. A collision occurred on Saturday whereby r. motor-cvclist. L. Autridsre. was rendered unconscious, through cominfr in contort with a motor-car. The driver of the latter drove awav to secure assistance. and, a second car annroachincr. found the man lvintr in an unconscious condition, and brought, him to the ho=nital. where the sufferer received medical attendance, and vat found to have n fr.i "hired skull.
