| Stratford, May 18. TOKO'S MEMORIAL TABLET. Considerable attention wag given'to a flue piece of workmanship oil view in the premises of Mr. Harrop, draper. The "exhibit" was the roll of honor containing the names of those soldiers who had pone to the front from the Toko district. The list contains the names of 104 individuals, headed by Captains .T. J?. Hine and Murray Lrquhart. The names are all in gpld, with the honors, medals, etc., opposite each soldier. It is unfortunate that many have other marks showing (hat tliev have either fallen facing (he foe or died from wounds, sickness, etc. The woodwork was done by the Excelsior Furnishing Company. and the lettering hv Mr. E. (7. Riddle. It is a handsome niece of work and another indication of the thoroughness Toko has exhibited in all patriotic movements. After tiein? on exhibition for a few dars, the memorial taiblet, will he placed in the Coronation TTall. ToVo. Thn unveiling of this in the hall will take place at the approaching farewell to Captains Hine and Urquhart. G ENTERAL

Strathmore's hall was crowded to the doors last night at a social tendered by Mr. and Mrs. S. Brewer to the settlers of that district. A small but very acceptable programme of items was submitted, encores being numerous, those assisting being Mesdaioes M'Laren and Nolan. Miss Bounds, and Mr. Yetton. Mr. C. TTi Fox was accompanist. The music for the dance was supplied by Mes<r= Kirk. Snvth, and Robinson (Hawera), whilst evtras were also contributed bv Mrs. L. Reira and Mr. C. H. Fox.
