WEST END SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the West End School Committee was held last night, Mr. A. Ji. Smart presiding. The report of Mrs. M. Dowling, headmistress, showed that the average attendance for the current quarter was 475, the present roll being 511. The board's carpenters had repaired the gymnasium, and effected other repairs. The front drain still needed attention. It was resolved to advertise for a caretaker, at a salary of £6O per annum. The Board of Education is to bo asked to provide temporary shelter sheds before the winter.

J. S. S. Medley and J. Garcia were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
