LONDON MARKETS.

Received May 17, 11.45 p.m.

London, May 16. Wheat.—Quiet. Flour is dull. Prices unchanged. Oats, peas and beans are firm at full rates.

Sugar is unchanged. There have been further large arrivals of colonial butter. There has been some agitation for increased rations, but it is unlikely at present, owing to the desirability of maintaining stocks. The Allied Commision lias fixed the purchase price of exportable surplus of Canadian cheese at from twenty-two to twenty-three cents per lb. on the quay at Montreal, which is one and a quarter cents_ above the 1917 prices. The trade anticipates a corresponding advance for Australian and New Zealand.
