HOCKEY.

STRATFORD v. HAWERA. The second bout of hockey between teams representing the Hawera and Stratford Clubs was decided at Stratford on Wednesday. Play wag always interesting, and attracted a very failcrowd of spectators. The first half was Icecnly contested, the score at half-time being Hawera 2. Stratford 1. In the latter portion of play, Hawera got in sonic very effective stick work, and, showing better combination, found the net on five occasions, finishing winners by 7 goals to 1. The Hawera goals were secured by Nuncay 3. Simpson 2, Gemmell and Sage. The Stratford snore was made by Curtis. Mr. J. T. Linef**n ably controlled the game. Arrangements are being made for a Wanganui-Taranaki ■fixture to be decided at Hawera during Winter Show Week.
