PALMERSTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., May IC. Christopher Martis, a negro, was found guilty in the Supreme this morning of theft from the person, and sentenced to 2>/ 3 years' reformative treatment. FEILDTNG ASSAULT CASE; Palmerston ST., Last Night. Before Mr. Justice Hosking, Michael Ronghan, Simon M'Greal, and James %an were charged with assaulting the Rev. Frederick Stoekwell at Feilding on February 1-3 and doing him grievous bodily barm. Evidence was given that at the conclusion of a P.P.A. meeting the crowd followed Mr. Stoekwell and other clergymen along the street, raid evejihi-. ally Mr. Stookwll was violently Assaulted, and received injuries from which he is stil! suffering. After hearing the evidence for tha prosecution, the Judge, ordered M'Greal and Egan to be discharged, as there wa« no evidence to connect tbem with the actual assault. The Judge summed up against Ronghan, and the .jury returned a verdict of guilty. Sentence was deferred. WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court Alan Talbert, for indecent assault on a male, was sentenced to three years' "hard labor and five years' reformative treatment. George ■Tame;; Mitchell, farmer, of Stokes Valley, was charged with obtaining goods by false pretences, and was sentenced to two years' hard labor.
