FRIENDLY SOCIETY'S WAR LOAtt. SYMPATHETIC HEARING FROM MINISTER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. A deputation representing the high Court of New Zealand Foresters and and Wellington district of the same Order waited upon the Hon. A. M. Myers, Acting-Minister of Finance, for the purpose of explaining the difficulties of their societies in. financing their war liabilities. Tho Minister, replying, congratulated the society on the patriotic and selfsacrificing decision at the outbreak of war to meet the liability created by members ' going on active service. He recognised tho war having lasted so long many matters now coming up for consideration required to be looked at from a new view point. He expressed the opinion that a working arrangement between the Financial Assistance Board and the registrar on behalf of societies might be possible, and lead to the establishment of a practical scheme to deal with future liabilities of societies for the contributors. Regarding the past deficiencies it might be practical to evolve a satisfactory scheme on the lines suggested, and he recommended the societies to furnish tho registrar with data that would enable the Minister for Friendly Societies to present the position to the Cabinet.
