COMMONWEALTH STBMtEES • SUNK. Received May 10, 9.20 p.m. Melbourne, May 10Mr. Poynton has announced that tw« Commonwealth Government steamers have been torpedoed and sunk. The Australdale was sunk in October, l!) 17, and one man was killed by the explosion of the torpedo. The remainder were picked up. The Austral Busli t.ji.s lost in November, 1917, two being drowned. One boat containing the chief officer and twenty-four men are still missing. The others -were saved.—Press Assoc. THE PRICE OF WHISKY. Keceived May 10. 0 20 p.m. Melbourne, May 10. The Licensed Viotuallers' Association has decided to pkee Australian whisky on the market at a price enabling it to be sold at sixpence a noWjler.
