HUNTING.
THE NORTH TARANAKI PACK. The sub-committee appointed by the North Taranaki Hunt to interview the farmers of the district with the object of securing country for hunting during the present season have been around the district and have received a very hearty response from the farmers generallv, and have been offered a large tract of country to hunt over. It lias been decided to formally open the season on Thursday next, May 16, with a mcetiii" at Messrs Bird-ling and Rasper's properties at Waitara. Subsequent gatherings will be arranged from time to time and' notified in the locexl press on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the idea heing, owing to the ranks' of the clufb having l been so severely depleted by its members going to tlhe 'front not to arrange a full programme as usual, hut merely to hold a few meets, in order, more particularly, to keep the pack together until such time aa the war is over and its members return to civil life.
