RAISING THE AGE LIMIT. Melbourne, May 4. The Federal Government is approaching the Imperial authorities with the view of raising the age limit for the expeditionary forces to 55.—Aust.-NX Cable Assoc. V.C.'S DARING EXPLOIT. London, May 3. The Victoria Cross has been awarded to Sergt. S. R. McDougall, Australian Infantry, for the following act: When the first enemy wave entered our line, McDougall, on' the flank, charged the enemy's second wave single-handed with a bayonet and killed seven men, captured a machine-gun and turned it against the enemy, firing from his hip and inflicting further casualties. Routing the remainder of ilie wave, McDougall seized his bayonet and charged the j enemy again, killing three men, also an officer who was about to kill one of our officers. McDougall then used a i Lewis gun against the enemy, killing many, and enablng us to capture 33 prisoners— Aust.-N.Z. Cable Assoc
