ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY'S. A BRILLIANT MOVING PICTURE. "THE THOROUGHBRED." The lovely homes and fine manners of old Virginia arc features of the brilliant Triangle drama, "The Thoroughbred," now being shown at Everybody's. The old colonel, a veteran of the Confederate army, is played by Frank Keenan, and his is a heart-warming performance. He loves horse-racing for the sake of the sport, and the sport only, and "Miss Minta" herself is a beautiful specimen of the thoroughbred. There are some splendid scenes in the plantation, and the negroes selected for the drama are quaint and lovable darkies. The dramatic interest of the storm centres round the young parson who comes to the little town to fight everything that he conceives to be evil. Among the worst of these is gambling, and partly tlirough his earnest efforts, horse-racing is abolished in the State. The dismay and consternation in the sport-loving community in which the scenes arc laid, is vividly portrayed. Then the young preachor finds that he has done "grievous harm to the father of the girl who has become very dear to him, and he laces social exile. The plot is full of ingenious surprises, and how the parson takes a hand m a gambling transaction, entered into in the real spirit of right-doing, is cleverly conceived. The camera work is wonderful. The eighth episode of "The Girl and The Game," is also included on this programme, which will be screened tonight for the last time. TO-MORROW. JUNE CAPRICE AND JANE LEE IN "A SMALL TOWN GIRL." The Fox feature, "A Small Town Girl," which went astray.in transit last week, has now come to hand, and will be screened to-morrow and Wednesday on the same programme with a brilliant Bluebird feature, "Eternal Love."

THE EMPIRE. CLARA KIMBALL YOUNG IN "MY OFFICIAL WIFE." One of the great film masterpieces of all time is being screened at The Empire to-night, where "My Official Wife," the de luxe Vitagrapli superfeature, starring Clara Kimball Young, is being shown. Earle Williams plays, the part of Sacha, the young Russian aristocrat who falls deeply in love with the alluring Nihilist Queen Marie. Harry Morey is the married American, traveller who dares to adopt as his temporary wife the fascinating stranger, and dainty Mary Anderson and Rose Tapley have splendid feminine roles. Rogers Lytton plays with force and dignity the striking part of chief of the Russian Secret Police. The drama is breathless with excitement from start to finish. The perilous situation of the man who, having got into Russia with his false passport .and his dangerous and lovely companion, cannot get out again, is full of possibilities, and no guess can be made as to what is going to happen next in this story of surprise upon surprise. The dressing is gorgeous, and the settings superb. The chorus of enthusiasm over this great picture can well be understood. There is a fine supporting programme, including another of the great topical series of the "History of the War."
