WAR LOAN OVER £.43,000,000. Sydney, April 30. War loan and Red Cross subscriptions are still coming in. The former is now over 43 million, while there are hopes that the latter will reach half a million. THE CITIZEN FORCES. Melbourne, April 30. The Defence Department is elaborating a scheme for reorganising ajid strengthening the citizen forces. It is proposed to call for volunteers, including men of mature age, for home service during the currency of the war. Such volunteers must be between the ages of 21 and 50, who are declared medically unfit or are otherwise ineligible for service abroad. The minimum camp training will be sixteen days, but preference will be given to those who volunteer for a longer period.
