PALESTINE.
A DISTORTED REPORT CORRECTED. Loudon. April 28. The War Office states that the Turkish official report of the lfltli stated that the English requested a two hours' armistice to give them an opportunity to bury .the large number of their dead. This statement gives ttn incorrect impression of heavy British losses. The facts were that after stubborn fighting, in which the enemy lost heavily, an arrangement, not, in the nature of an armistice, was made between a German officer and the British Red Cross for the collection of wounded, the enemy having previously fired on our parties, causing the mutual abandonment of the. collection of wounded and dead. Palestine Hedjaz official: The troops of the King of the Hedjaz, during the week en/led April 24, occupied 53 miles of . the Hed.jaz railway southward of Maan.
