THE BIPLANE AFFAIR. Writes our Wellington corespondent: The owner of Biplane does not go further in his defence at the present time, but undoubtedly there are two sides to the case. The people who went to Palmerstou North to see. Desert Gold meet Biplane were bitterly disappointed at the withdrawal of Mr. Greenwood's colt at the eleventh hour, and their disappointment had its eclio in the stewards' room. But a section of Ihe same people would have been angry if Biplane had run and they had discovered after the race that tlie colt was not fit to start. Mr. Greenwood's feeling seems to have been that he would have been perpetrating a fraud upon the public by sending Biplane over ten furlongs against Desert Gold when not m form. That, at anv rate, is the contention raised by his friends. The incident is not closed, and the facts may become more fully known than they are now.
