Mr. Twogood, consulting electrical engineer to the Town Board, paid a risit. to Opunake, and spent three or four days going over the site for the proposed electric scheme for the town of Opumvke. lie will report for the next meeting. It is reported he is very favorable towards the scheme outlined by tlie national electrical engineer.

A public meeting called by the Harbor Board was well attended. The chairman, Mr. Hughson, outlined proposals for buying the jetty from Mr. Cleave for £350 and arranging for an overdraft, from the bank up to £SOO for providing the finance for purchasing tlie wh'arf and putting it in repair. The mooting gave the Harbor Board every support and agreed to the purchase and to find 25 guarantors to sign the joint and several to the bank. The general opinion is that the purchase amount, £350, is on the high aide, considering it was obtained for £IOO less and no repairs have been effected to the wharf during the late lessee's term. That t'he Board is the right party to have control is not doubted, and that the increase in haulage over the roads is likely to ensure'a greater volume of trade per the port. 'J.ne public generally are much in favor of the Board's proposals. At the annual meeting of the Farmers Union (Opunake branch) Mr. Geo.; Loonev was re-appointed chairman and Air. Sinclair secretary. . Mr. BuckeriJge, provincial secretary, present, and addressed the meeting oil tlie benefits conferred on the farming community through the efi'orts of the Union. lie also introduced Mr. Maxwell's bookkeeping- for farmers and explained it in detail

The Opnnake Racing Club cleared about £OOO from its last race meeting. Tl'c flu I) decided to put £3OO into the War Loan and voted £25 to the lied Triiin-ilo collection taken in Opunake The workers for Red Triangle Day in Opunake on Easter Saturday raised over .cum.

At the Methodist Church on Tuesday evening a welcome was given to Rev. Strand, the newly-apnoiute* minister to this district. At the s;*ne evening a farewell presentation was given to Mr. !\. Oanncll, who was presented with a music hold-all and stool. A largo number were present. The opportunity was also taken to bid good bye to Mr. Lawrence, who has been filling the local pulpit.
