YESTERDAY'S SITTLNQ. (Before Mr. A. Crooke,. S.M.) BREACHES OF BY-LAWS.

Wliiteford Patou, for driving a niotor car in Devon street at night without light* (to which lie pleaded guilty) was convicted and lined 10s (costs 7s); and for failing to slop when called upon l)y a constable to do so (to which lie pleaded not guilty) he was convicted and fined 5s (costs 7s). Wra. Way, for driving a cart in Devon street at 4 o'clock in the morning without lights was fined 5s (costs 7s). Victor Griffiths and Augustus C. McEwan were fined 5s (costs 7s) for cycling at night without lightsHenry Pitt was charged with leaving o motor cycle standing in the street at night without » light attached. He pleaded ignorance of the by-law and was convicted and ordered to pay the costs amounting to 13s. T.' Merritt was fined 5s (costs 7s) for carrying a passenger on a motor cycle otherwise than in a side-car. Ernest Mailnuin, for driving a vehicle on the South road at night without lights was fined 5s (costs 7s). J. George for driving a vehicle along South road after dark with only one light attached was fined 5a (cost's 9s 6d).

ARREARS OF MAINTENANCE. Louisa Cattley (Mr. A. A. Bennett) applied for an order against L. H. J. Cattley for arrears of maintenance amounting to £3O. The maintenance order was made on September 8, UU, and nothing had been paid into court The defendant's father stated an arrangement had been made with him whereby defendant had paid £2l on ,the order up to February 4. Since then nothing had been paid. Defendant was convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment, the sentence to be suspended so long as lie paid £1 per fortnight off the arrears.
