The fire broke out on Saturday and continued on Sunday. The explosions sent up huge columns of flame and also hurled debris over Friedrichshaven, destroying houses. The inhabitants were panic-stricken, and many fled to neighboring towns
Nearly 40 workshops were burnt, There are 140 dead and 200 wounded.
