SPORTING.
OPUNAKE RACING CEUB. A meeting of the Committee was held on Friday, April 5. Present: Messrs J. M. Hiekey (chairman), E. S. Forsyth, E. L. Thorpe, J. Young, S. Richards, and D. Campbell. Tho secretary submitted a provisional statement showing the nett profit from the recent meeting to have been £9OO. It was devided to invest £SOO in the IVar Loan, and also to make a donation of £25 to the local branch of the Y.M.C.A. War Service Committee. Tho balance of funds will be placed at interest in the Post Office Savings Bank. It is the intention of the Committee to practically reconstruct the whole of the racecourse appointments.
