Kaponga is holding; a dance and welcome-home social in aid of the same cause, whilst an energetic committee has been set up at Tc Eoti to push on the canvassing in that part. Indications point to a very substantial responst being secured to the appeal when the lists finally close.

Turner, £5 2s Od from anonymous, and £2 from ,T.G. (Awatuna) for presents to prisoners in Uerrjiany. At the County Council meeting on Saturday Cr. Campbell gave notice to move: ''That the engineer's salary be raised to £400." This was the fee paid to Mr. Basham, and there is little likelihood of opposition to Mr. Tosswill getting this sum. Messrs. A. 11. Guy (chairman), Cook (clerk) and Priestley (electrical engineer) waited on the council with regard to the Kaponga Town Board secnr'n-r n . grant of easement from the council to carry electric light lines over the county roads. Mr. Weir, county solicitor, explained the position, and the matter was left to Crs. Belcher, Pease and Messena to attend to the request, with power to act.
